Andy and Nicola October at Crewe Hall
We first met Nicola and Andy at an open evening at Crewe Hall. It was clear that we got on straight away and we were so pleased when they decided to book us to cover their Wedding-AN at Crewe hall the following year, firstly because they were such a great couple and secondly because everyone knows how much we love Crewe Hall.
On the lead up to the Wedding-AN we met to discuss the Wedding-AN in more detail and as usually I gave lots of advice to help the day run as smoothly as posable. One of the things that Andy and Nicola were doing a little differently was that they were staying together the night before the Wedding-AN and Andy would be there the following mooning as Nicola had her hair and make up done.
As they had booked the royal suite at the hall this was not up a problem as Nicola and her bridesmaids could make use of the very large sitting room and Andy could use the bedroom to get ready, Andy promised to be out of the room for 10am so all was good.
What we didn’t count on was how much Andy liked having his photograph taken getting ready, as he was in the next room both me and David set about taking photographs of Nicola and Andy throughout the morning and almost had to throw Andy out of the room as time went by, it was clear he was enjoying himself so much he forgot about getting married and went into full “diva ” mode …. From then on he was nick named Naomi Campbell.
As noon approached and Nicola was ready, we made our way from the Royal suite to the Library for the civil ceremony. David had gone with Andy earlier for some family photographs and they had both been photo bombing each other’s shots. But know came the time for the serious bit of the day and let me tell you it was emotional. I sat at the front of the room and as the emotions surfaced found myself swept along …thank goodness for the camera to hide behind !
Drinks reception in the hall of pillars is always one of my favourite parts of the day, we always get great shots of the bride and groom as well as the guests , lots of atmosphere, everyone looked like they were inside a painting …especially Andys dad who sat on one of the large fireside chairs surrounded by his family …one of my favourite shots of the day.
After drinks and changing with guests the bride and groom were keen to have some family shots and photographs of the two of them together both inside the hall and outside. It as a lovely sunny day so we took advantage of that for as long as we could.
Andy and Nicola had chosen the drawing room for their Wedding-AN breakfast, so we made our way upstairs to show them the room before anyone was called for dinner. We would like to thank them both for making sure we were fed in the brasserie at Crewe Hall, it’s a long day shooting a wedding and we are always grateful when our clients think of us in this way
The speeches took place after the meal and we were just not prepared for the tears and emotion that followed as we were unaware that Nicola had been involved in a near fatal car crash a few years before and that Andy had saved his brothers life as a teenager ….once again I was grateful to hide behind my camera as you can imagine.
After the first dance and some more chatting with this wonderful family we made our way home to download the images and think about the day.
A big thank-you to you both for the meal on the day and the lovely thank you card and gifts you gave to us when you collected your Wedding-AN images..this is why we do this job! ..PS not the gifts LOL …the wonderful people we meet !
